Academic English

Michigan Corpus of Academic Spoken English (MICASE). This is a site with a collection of transcripts of  spoken English in academic contexts, such as  lectures, labs, advising meetings, dissertation defenses, and interviews.  It can be searched to see how words are used, or to read transcripts of particular speech events.
There is an article by Steven Thorne et al. in the office about a class at Penn State that uses the MICASE to train international teaching assistants.
