I am currently a software consultant and developing a physics based MMO called Neptune Live. My expertise is in Computer Graphics, Distributed (p2p) Systems, Java, Python/Django, Javascript/jQuery, and Andorid apps.
I was a Research Support Staff member at the Max Planck Institute for Software Systems in the Distributed Systems group. I worked on FreePastry and ePost in the Systems Group under Peter Druschel.
Short History:
I was born in Dalhart, TX on March 2, 1979, and lived on a farm until age 3. My father went back to school when I was in Kindergarten, and bought a Compaq portable computer. In first grade I began learning to program games in Microsoft BASICA.
In 2nd grade I moved to Windsor Elementary School in Amarillo, TX. Then after a year at Bonham Middle School, I moved to Shelburne, VT in 7th grade.
A year later I ended up a few miles North in South Burlington, VT. At SBHS I was involved in the early years of the South Burlington Imaging Lab started by Tim Comolli. This lead to numerous opportunities for a 16 year old. I worked at RETN and in a collaboration my High School, I twice directed a 2 day live television broadcast of the school's Model UN. In 1996 I worked for Polhemus Inc. and presented a project at SIGGRAPH '96 in New Orleans. In 1997 I moved to Rice University in Houston, TX and lived at Lovett College. I pursued an undergraduate degree in Computer Science and worked on several computer graphics projects with Joe Warren including the winner of the Individual Grand Prize for the 1999 ACM/IBM Quest for Java. In the meantime I got my EMT certification and volunteered for 2 years with Rice EMS and various Harris County emergency services. In 2000, my focus shifted from computer graphics to real-time networking. I co-founded Advanced Reality with another Rice student, Derek Ruths. Despite running a business, I managed to achieve my B.A. in Computer Science in 2001. After leaving AR in December 2003, I returned to my alma mater and joined the Systems group to work on FreePastry and ePost with Peter Druschel. In August 2005, I moved to Saarbrücken Germany to join the new Max Plank Institute for Software Systems. I continue to work on FreePastry and ePost.
